She led a 16 year campaign to repeal the Contagious Diseases Acts. She raised awareness of the plight of destitute women caught in the sex trade and campaigned to establish legal protection for minors against sexual violence. This campaign led to the passing of the Criminal Law Amendment Act of 1885.
